Institutional Research at Iowa Valley
IVCCD's Office of Institutional Research provides the district with information and data necessary to support sound decision-making. Selected data and reports are made available here for your use. Some reports are in PDF format and may require the use of Acrobat Reader.
Student Right-to-Know Information
- The graduation rate for all Marshalltown Community College students who first entered in the Fall of 2004 on a full-time basis was 31%. Student athletes that first entered on a full-time basis during this same timeframe (Fall of 2004) had a graduation rate of 37.5%.
- The graduation rate for all Ellsworth Community College students who first entered in the Fall of 2004 on a full-time basis was 27%. Student athletes that first entered on a full-time basis during this same timeframe (Fall of 2004) had a graduation rate of 37.3%.
Internal Reports and Projects
IVCCD Fact Book – The Fact Book provides extensive information on enrollment trends, credit students, financial information, student outcomes, and demographic and economic trends.
Enrollment Reports – These reports provide selected data for credit students, including gender, race/ethnicity, enrollment status, and more.
By the Numbers Newsletter – Newsletter prepared by the Office of Institutional Research.
Research Advisory Committee – The IVCCD Research Advisory Committee (RAC) was established during fall 2005 to: 1) Provide guidance and validation to the research projects undertaking by the Office of Institutional Research, 2) Identify appropriate groups or committees to which to distribute research findings, and3) Develop a mechanism to track the changes implemented in response to research results.
Transfer Student Data - Selected analysis of transfer student data.
- A study of the academic performance of IVCCD transfer students.
- Regent first-term GPA – First-term grade point average of ECC and MCC transfer students for ISU, UNI, and U of Iowa for fall 2000 - 2006.
- Comparison of cumulative GPA of IVCCD transfer students – Cumulative GPA comparison for ECC and MCC transfer students enrolled at ISU, UNI, and U of Iowa for 2000 - 2007.
- Good standing – Percentage of ECC and MCC transfer students who left in good standing and remain in good standing after their first-term at the Regent institution for 2000 - 2007.
External Projects & Assessments
CAAP Assessment – Each semester the Collegiate Assessment of Academic Proficiency (CAAP) exam is administered to those students graduating with an associate degree. CAAP results for 1999 - 2006 are available here.
Community College Survey of Student Engagement (CCSSE) – CCSSE is designed to provide information on student learning and engagement and was first administered at IVCCD during spring 2004.
National Community College Benchmark Project (NCCBP) – NCCBP was first administered nationwide during spring 2004. View IVCCD results here.

State & National Reports
- The Condition of Education –This NCES report provides nation-wide data on participation, student effort and educational progress, and learner outcomes for primary, secondary and postsecondary education in the United States.
- Digest of Education Statistics – This NCES report is a compilation of statistical information covering the broad field of American education from pre-kindergarten through graduate school.
- Iowa College Student Aid Commission – ICSAC reports on ethnic diversity, migration patterns of first-time students, work-study programs, and student loan debt.
- Iowa Department of Education Community College Reports – Fall credit, tuition and fees, certified budget, and condition of Iowa community colleges reports are available online.
