Technology Upgrades IVCCD anticipates spending about $5 million on technology improvements. Today’s students deserve state-of-the-art technology in a college that’s preparing them for jobs in an ever-changing global economy. And the local businesses and industries that hire our graduates expect employees who are prepared to handle current and emerging technologies. IVCCD intends to meet those critical needs. Specifically, the technology money will be spent over a 10-year period on these projects.
Replacing the District's data network infrastructure. – The Information Technology (IT) department has installed a new data network infrastructure consisting of hundreds of miles of new wiring. The wiring closet, pictured right, is a vast improvement over what was previously in place.
- Replacing the District's outdated phone system(s) – A new phone system was selected and installed in August 2007.
- Modernizing the District's main database server – The IT Department is in the process of getting the new servers and will have them in a test environment until the end of the spring semester. They plan on moving users to the new server in May 2008.
- Installing "smart classroom" technology on all campuses – A state-of-the-art learning environment requires modern audio-visual equipment and computer access in the classrooms, which must be updated regularly. The campuses are developing a list of equipment needs and priorities, which will be funded accordingly over the next several years.
