What are the dimensions of the rooms?

Room Dimensions for the Residence Halls are as follows:

  • Thompson Hall -14’8”x 10’8”

  • Wall Hall -11’6”x 16’

  • Apartments -11’6”x 16’

What is provided with each room?

The following items are included with each Residence Hall room for each resident

  • Bed frame (Single)

  • Mattress (Single)

  • Student Desk w/ Chair

  • 4-5 Drawer dresser

  • Closet

  • Telephone Jack (student provides phone)

  • Cable TV Jack (student provides coaxial cable)

  • Window curtains

What are the mattress sizes?

Mattress sizes for all 3 residence halls are a standard twin size, 36”x 75” The Department of Residence Life and Housing has a limited number of extra long twin mattresses (36”x 80”) that are available upon request. These requests can be made to our department prior to the start of the school year. Requests will be honored in a first come first serve basis and not all requests receive a mattress

Can I have a loft in the room?

Lofts are allowed in student rooms under the following conditions

The loft is free standing and does not use the walls, ceiling or any other permanent structure in the room for support The loft once constructed does not surpass 6’6” in height, due to fire code.

Ellsworth Community College assumes no liability for the safety of any loft built, purchased, or rented for use in your residence hall room. This means that you assume liability for anything placed or constructed in your room.

What should I bring to the residence halls?

Listed below are some items that typically most Ellsworth Students bring to their residence hall room

  • Personal Toiletries

  • Television

  • Towels

  • VCR/DVD

  • Bedding

  • Stereo

  • Trashcan

  • Game systems

  • Posters/Pictures to decorate

  • Computer

  • School materials

  • Snack Food

  • Paper towels/Kleenex

  • Refrigerator(4.0 cubic ft or less)

  • Telephone

  • Alarm Clock

  • Answering Machine

  • Laundry Detergent

  • Quarters for Laundry

  • Fan (it can get hot!)

What should I NOT bring to the residence halls?

Listed below are items that are NOT to be brought to the Ellsworth Residence Halls according to Housing policies:

  • Candles

  • Toasters

  • Space Heaters

  • Ceiling Fans

  • Halogen Lights

  • Pizza Ovens

  • Firearms & weapons

  • Pets, other than fish

  • Alcohol (dry campus)

  • Drugs

  • George Foreman grills

  • Freezers of any kind
