ECC Admissions

Buena Vista University: Iowa Falls Center

Established in 1996, Buena Vista University's Iowa Falls Center in Reg Johnson Hall, room 119, on the ECC campus is one of 17 extension campuses of Buena Vista University, Storm Lake, Iowa. Working with ECC, the center provides coursework for the last two years of a bachelor’s degree. BVU is fully accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools and is approved by the Iowa Department of Education and the Veterans Administration.

Freshman and sophomore courses are taken through ECC with admittance to BVU at the completion of 60 semester hours. Up to 68 hours of the community college credit is accepted toward the bachelor’s degree. ECC’s Associate in Arts degree satisfies all BVU general education requirements. Vocational-technical coursework and work completed during military service are evaluated on an individual basis.

All courses leading to the four-year degree are held on the ECC campus and are offered in a format designed to meet the needs of busy students with family and career obligations. Six eight-week terms are scheduled annually. Two courses per term constitute full-time attendance. Most students can complete their bachelor’s degree in two years under this unique program while continuing their daytime employment.

Currently, the BVU/Iowa Falls Center offers majors in elementary education, human services, accounting, psychology, management/entrepreneurship, and criminal justice. Reading and middle school endorsements are available to certified teachers.

Students planning to complete full four-year programs at ECC and BVU/Iowa Falls are encouraged to plan with counselors from both institutions. Questions about registration, transfer procedures, degree requirements or financial aid should be directed to the BVU/
Iowa Falls Center at 641-648-3840 or toll-free 888-648-3840.
