Academic Support Services

Ellsworth Community College provides a variety of academic support services to help students be successful. Listed here are several individuals and links that may be helpful to you, depending on what you need. If you aren't sure which of these individuals or departments to contact, email eccinfo@iavalley.edu and we'll put you in touch with the right person!

  • Academic Advising – Each ECC student is assigned an academic advisor, who assists them in choosing courses and seeing that the appropriate coursework is taken to assure graduation, transfer to another college or university, or completion of a career program. Students should maintain regular contact with their academic advisor throughout the year and are invited to contact members of the counseling staff whenever needed. If you're unsure who your academic advisor is, contact the ECC Registrar's Office and they can look it up for you.
  • ASSIST – ASSIST (Accessing Support Services to Insure Successful Transitions) is a program that helps students achieve their educational goals. ASSIST staff help students identify and access resources such as academic advising, diagnostic testing, orientation to college life, developing individual success plans, peer mentoring, and career planning. The ASSIST offices are located in the basement of Kruse-Main Hall or email Megan Heitmann for more information.
  • Counseling – ECC has a full-time counselor, Tracie Self (Gentle Student Center). Counseling services include help with decisions on curriculum choices, vocational development, and problems of a personal or social nature. Special counseling services are also available for older students enrolling in college after being away from formal education. ECC's counseling services are free and available to all students. For information about our vocational rehabilitation counseling, click on the Special Needs/Accommodations link below.

    • As part of ECC's commitment to mental health, students are invited to participate in a mental health screening by clicking on MentalHealthScreening.org/screening. You'll need to enter the keyword "Ellsworth" to log in. Questions can be directed to ECC Counselor Tracie Self.
  • Library – A variety of resources, including computer stations, are available in ECC's Osgood Library in Kruse-Main Hall. Stop in the library or click here to use the library's online services.
