Student Activities & Organizations

There are a variety of student clubs, activities and organizations on campus to provide students with social and professional networking opportunities ... did we mention these groups also have lots of fun?!

The links below provide information about various activities, organizations and clubs on campus.

Student Senate
Student Senate is the primary student government body, offering an important opportunity to participate in the operation of the College, including membership on various college-wide committees. The Student Senate's main areas of concern are student welfare, political action, community service, and administration of the student activities budget. State leadership conferences and legislative lobbying efforts are on the annual agenda for this group.

Senate representatives are elected at large by vote of the student body. The Senate holds regular meetings in the Gentle Student Center twice per month during the academic year. The meetings are usually scheduled for Sunday evenings.

Clubs & Organizations

Campus clubs meet a variety of student interests. Current clubs on campus include Ag Science Club, Art Club, Biotechnology Club, Cheerleaders, Conservation Club, Criminal Justice Club, Dance Squad, Home Away From Home, Human Services Club, International Club, Non-Traditional Club, Office Education (Business Professionals of America), Phi Theta Kappa, Rodeo Club, Science Club, Student Senate, Student Alumni, Young Democrats, and Young Republicans.

Entertainment and activities are available through the social activities program as facilitated by Student Senate.

Phi Theta Kappa, Alpha Iota Omega Chapter

Alpha Iota Omega, a chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, is an international honorary society that recognizes academic achievement at the community college level. Chapter requirements for membership include having a grade point average of 3.5 and carrying a minimum of 12 academic hours for full-time students and part-time students in a degree seeking program.

Music

ECC choirThe music program at ECC offers an opportunity for all interested students and community persons to enjoy vocal and instrumental music for college credit. Music groups may be formed as student interest and community needs arise, and such performance groups appear regularly throughout the year for both college and community organizations and events.

Ellsworth Journal

ECC publishes the Ellsworth Journal newspaper bi-monthly to showcase the creativity of students in writing, photography and design, as well as to chronicle the events and people of the ECC community.

The Ellsworth Journal is produced by students using contemporary desktop publishing software and hardware technology. All students are invited to join the Publications Staff.

Intramurals
ECC offers a broad program of intramural sports activities each year. Among those regularly offered are softball, water polo, basketball, flag football, and volleyball.

Convocations

On an as-needed basis morning classes at ECC may be shortened to 45 minutes, allowing for a 45-minute session for convocations, special events, and activities. All students are expected to be in attendance at convocations unless otherwise notified. The revised class schedule will be published in the daily bulletin when special events are scheduled and announced. Requests for scheduling convocations, special events, and activities are to be brought to the ECC Provost for authorization before class schedules are modified.
