Iowa City's Sydnay Lehman signs with Panthers
Ellsworth Community College Head Volleyball Coach Melanie Lane has announced that Sydnay Lehman, a 5’9” right side hitter from Iowa City, has signed her letter of intent to continue her academic and athletic career at Ellsworth Community College.
Lehman lettered all four years on Iowa City Regina’s varsity squad. Her left-handed attack tallied her 95 kills her senior year (1.1 per set), and 15 aces with a .92 serving percentage. During the 2011 season, she also accumulated 119 digs (1.3 per set) and 23 blocks. Lehman played four seasons of junior Olympic volleyball, contributing two years to Club Regal and two years to Eastern Iowa Outlaws. She is also involved in Iowa City Regina’s women’s basketball and softball programs, and was a part of the 2011 Class 2A State softball championship team. Lehman takes an active leadership role in her high school, and is also involved in Key Club, as a Retreat Team Leader, and in the 6-11 program, helping elementary school students transition into junior high.
“Sydnay has a very technically sound approach, and is a solid all-around player,” Lane stated. “She’ll step in wherever she’s needed – I’ve watched her play libero, set and attack all in one tournament.”
Lehman is the daughter of Chris and Angie Lehman and older sister to Cale, Cameron and Sarah. She plans to pursue a degree in pre-veterinary medicine and will also play softball at Ellsworth.
