Ellsworth students earn state BPA honors
Four Ellsworth Community College students competed against other Iowa students at the state Business Professionals of America (BPA) Leadership Conference Feb. 24-25 in Des Moines, and all are now eligible to advance to the national competition in one or more events.
The winners and their events were as follows:
Brooklynn Calef of Steamboat Rock: 1st place in Keyboarding, and Top 8 Medallion in Basic Office Systems & Procedures.
Ryan Inks of Alden: 1st place in Advanced Interview Skills, and Top 8 Medallion in Prepared Speech.
Jim Mazoway of Iowa Falls: 3rd place in College Accounting, and Top 8 Medallion in Financial Math & Analysis.
Calli Soesbe of Eldora: 1st place in Fundamental Word Processing, and 2nd place in Interview Skills.
The National BPA Leadership Conference will be held in April in Indianapolis, IN.
Ellsworth’s BPA advisors, Janet Siert and Tina Ruch-Wesselmann, accompanied the students to the state conference. For the 11th consecutive year, ECC took home the trophy for Corporate Sponsorship, thanks to the generous financial support received from Cort and Peg Van Buskirk.
