ECC students participate in national leadership conference
Ellsworth Community College students Angie Hamilton of Iowa Falls, Katie Maxwell of Moscow (IA), Bakhtiyar Medeubekov of Kazakhstan and Valerie Soesbe of Eldora, along with advisors Tina Ruch-Wesselmann and Janet Siert, participated in the National Leadership Conference of Business Professionals of America in Orlando, FL, May 8-12.
Hamilton received medallions for Top 10 placement in Medical Office Procedures and Top 10 placement in Basic Office Systems & Procedures. Maxwell received a medallion for Top 10 placement in Keyboarding Production and was a Top 10 finalist in Human Resources Management. Medeubekov received medallions for Top 10 placement in Interview Skills and Top 10 placement in Presentation Management/Individual Contest. Soesbe received a medallion for Top 10 placement in Advanced Interview Skills.
More than 4,000 high school and college students from across the country competed in the events at the Business Professionals of America’s 47th National Leadership Conference. Activities included general sessions with keynote speakers, business meetings, leadership workshops, contests, election of national officers, and tours of Orlando sights and attractions. The highlight of the conference was the presentation of the awards to the winners of the national contests.
Business Professionals of America is the leading CTSO (Career Technical Student Organization) for students pursuing careers in business management, office administration, information technology and other related career fields.
