ECC student-athletes receive academic recognitions
Six Ellsworth Community College student-athletes have been recognized by the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) for their academic accomplishments during the Spring 2013 semester.
The NJCAA is presenting Superior Academic Achievement Awards to volleyball player Kayla Fonken of Blairsburg (3.89 GPA), baseball players Dane Mehring of Cedar Rapids (3.79 GPA) and Jordan Stroschein of Marion (3.81 GPA), and softball player Kylie Wilson of Bisbee, AZ (3.92 GPA).
Exemplary Academic Achievement Awards will be presented to volleyball player Jessica Jones of Knoxville (3.79 GPA) and baseball player Austin Smith of Davenport (3.75 GPA).
“We’re extremely proud of these student-athletes and their academic accomplishments,” says Nate Forsyth, ECC Director of Athletics & Student Life. “Student-athletes commit a great deal of time and effort outside the classroom to be successful in their particular sports, so it’s a great testimony to their academic dedication to also be recognized for their outstanding grade point averages.”
