ECC students make blankets for foster care grads
For the past few years, an impressive graduation event has been held in Waterloo. While it may appear to be like any other high school graduation open house with cake and decorations, what makes this event special are the graduates themselves: each one is not only graduating from high school, but also from Iowa's foster care system. To recognize these students' unique accomplishments and to offer support as they pursue their future goals, Ellsworth Community College's Apparel Merchandising students recently made blankets, which will be given to the Waterloo graduates during their open house in May.
Pictured with the blankets are several of the ECC Apparel Merchandising students, from left: Olivia Ballhagen of Parkersburg, Rachel Wolf of Cedar Falls, Maisey Ranfeld of Guernsey, Jessica Eberl of Underwood, and Mary Jane Halder of Iowa Falls.
