At Ellsworth Community College, The Hub strives to provide an academic support system for all students who need help reaching their goals. Individual and group study/tutoring areas and resource materials are available in a supportive atmosphere. The Hub is located in the lower level of Kruse Main Hall (entrance via ramp on the south side of the building) on the ECC campus.
The Hub is open Mondays and Thursdays from 8 am to 8 pm, Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 8 am to 4:30 pm, and Fridays from 8 am to noon.
Peer Tutoring provides free assistance for students enrolled in specific ECC courses. Tutors are students who have successfully completed the course. Normal tutoring includes two 50-minute sessions per week, arranged one-on-one during normal Hub hours. Students are encouraged to seek assistance as soon as they experience difficulty in a course, as it may take up to two weeks to arrange a tutoring schedule. To be assigned a peer tutor, students should contact a faculty member or visit with Wanda Koehrsen. Students interested in becoming a tutor should contact the course instructor and complete a tutor application form in The Hub.
Homework Help Labs are available during select hours to assist students (on a drop-in basis) with coursework. No appointment is necessary. Lab sessions include a broad range of courses each semester. See the schedule sent to student email each semester and posted in The Hub.
The Writing Center provides students with one-on-one assistance with writing assignments for all classes. Students can get help at any stage of the writing process. Drop-in visits are welcome. To schedule an appointment, fill out the online form with your availability, visit The Hub, or phone 641-648-8587 or toll-free 1-800-322-9235, Ext. 8587.
