ISU Solar Car visits Grinnell
Iowa State University’s solar car made a special stop in Grinnell on Wednesday, when Team PrISUm visited with Iowa Valley Grinnell’s Auto Technology classes.
Team PrISUm is currently in the construction stage of their 12th solar car, which will compete in the 2014 American Solar Challenge. The goal is to build on the many successes of their previous car, Hyperion, while improving reliability and efficiency across the board.
Team PrISUm is a student-run organization at Iowa State University that has been building and racing solar cars since the first GM Sunrayce in 1990. Its mission is to demonstrate the potential of solar power as part of an alternative to traditional energy sources such as coal and crude oil. Team PrISUm gives students hands-on experience building a solar car from the ground up every two years.
