Anatomy of a Raid - Update on Postville
Come learn how the raid on Postville, Iowa may change the world we live in. How will the judicial system and civil and human rights be affected at the local and national level? This class explores the challenges to civil and human rights of those affected, and considers the possibilities for the future. You will also watch the trailer of the documentary "Abused" and share in a question and answer discussion.

Burmese Refugee Experience in the United States
Learn how the worldwide refugee program operates from the personal experience of a Burmese refugee. This presentation will provide an introduction to the worldwide refugee program, explain how a person becomes a refugee and ultimately comes to resettle in the United States. The presenter is a Burmese refugee now working as a case manager, helping other refugees begin their new lives. He will talk about the Burmese culture and the adjustments refugees must make to integrate into the American culture. Lunch is included.

Iowa Valley Leadership
You can be a leader! Iowa Valley Leadership believes community vitality depends on individuals who learn about critical local issues and engage in influencing change. Emerging community leaders are selected through a referral and application process. As a member of Iowa Valley Leadership Class 2010 learn about local issues and resources, interact with community leaders, become involved in community activities, and develop a network of new friends and professionals.

LIFE Leadership Iowa Falls Experience
The "Scenic City" of Iowa Falls welcomes new leaders with this extended course. Participants gain a knowledge base of the community including topics of education, government, health, business, history, leadership and how they blend with community roles. Day long sessions require regular attendance and a group project before graduation. Tuition and participation is encouraged through a sponsor organization or employer. Applications are due 8/25. The Poweshiek Leadership Program focuses on uniting emerging leaders from diverse backgrounds. Together they learn about and gain understanding of community issues that are unique to the Poweshiek County area. A broadened, collective vision of a better county-wide community helps enhance each individual's ability to lead. Participants are accepted on an application basis.
