An Amish/English Bee
Whether you're a professional, novice or non-quilter, you'll enjoy this unique opportunity in an Amish home. Experience first hand, how the Amish create those lovely works of art. While learning 'how' around a big frame, there will be plenty of chatting, laughter and sharing with our Amish friend(s). Enroute to, through and from the Buchanan County Amish community via an Iowa Valley van, event facilitator, will share information about the Amish and their quilts. Lunch is together at a local eatery; not included in the cost of the class. Amish businesses that may be visited are Oakhill Furniture, Miller's Bulk Food Store, Pine Grove General Store, Little Country Store, and Coleman Store. Pre-register & prepay two weeks prior to the outing to receive the informational packet. Limited to 8. No refund if you cancel one day prior to or after.

Desert Star
Learn the quick triangle technique to make easy and accurate half square triangles. Then incorporate these elements into the attractive Desert Star block. The block can then be set into a charming little wall hanging or table topper. This is a great class for beginners or anyone looking for a fast fun project. This is a fast simple project in which participants will learn one of the basic quilt piecing techniques - quick triangles. The fabric requirements are minimal and the handouts only a few pages. Prepay & register by 9/9 to receive materials list.

Learn how to add thoughtfulness to your gifts by wrapping them with extra care and love. There are many things you can do to wrap your gift so it appears elegant, humorous, or seasonal. Let creative juices flow and bring to class some empty boxes, wrapping paper, flowers, buttons, stickers, and whatever else you think could be used. A fun evening so be prepared to create and enjoy.

How Do I Mark My Quilt?
How Do I Mark My Quilt? aka Stencil Savvy will discuss the wide variety of stencils and quilt marking tools available. The first part of this class is full of information on how to use them, where to find them, and even how to make some yourself. Learn how to 'fit' designs into borders or spaces in their quilts. The latter portion of the class, address questions of how we select the correct quilting design and marking tools for individual projects. There may be time toward the end of the class for you to actually 'mark' a project of your own. This 'round table discussion/hands-on practice' class that would be helpful to quilters of all skill levels. Register and pay one week in advance to receive a supply list.

A T- Shirt Quilt is an easy project for beginners & experienced alike and makes a great Christmas, graduation or birthday gift. Turn all those sports & special t-shirts into a warm & cozy memory quilt. Lunch is provided and you may bring snacks or treats to share. Bring at least 12 t-shirts, your machine and basic sewing supplies. You can bring with you or purchase the lightweight interfacing & fabric sashing at Jen's Needleworks. Woodcarving is a relaxing way to spend some creative time. This is a group of interested carvers who meet monthly. It is your opportunity to find out what supplies you need to do woodcarving, some of the techniques of woodcarving, learn where to get supplies, and see demonstrations.
