Humanities Meskwaki History Johnathan Buffalo is the tribal historian for the Meskwaki people. His knowledge of their history is fascinating as is his respect for their beliefs and traditions. He will enthrall you as he traces the history of his people and their journey into the present day. Additional perspective will be provided by Suzanne Wanatee whose information will allow class members to understand the Meskwakis' historical experiences from a social science point of view. This will be more than an informative evening because you will walk away with a much better understanding of a proud people and their culture. Video Seminar: H5N1 Killer Flu Can Scientists have long forecast the appearance of an influenza virus capable of infecting 40 percent of the world's human population and killing unimaginable numbers. Recently, a new strain, H5N1 avian influenza, has shown all the earmarks of becoming that disease. Until now, it has largely been confined to certain bird species, but that may be changing. View the video and learn about the dangers posed by H5N1 avian influenza, as well as the political, public health, and medical challenges the world's nations must overcome in order to fight the flu.
