Amish Adventure
Participants will travel to the Buchanan County Old Order Amish Community via an Iowa Valley van. While enroute, tour facilitator will lead a discussion about the history, culture, beliefs, & daily life style of the Amish. While in the community, stops will be made at a number of Amish businesses which are located on individual farmsteads. We may be able to have some Amish folks join us for lunch at a local eatery; lunch not included in cost of class. This tour is always geared to the interest of the participants. Couples, moms & daughters, & friends enjoy spending this unique day together discovering things they never new about our non-electric neighbors. Pre-register & payment required two weeks in advance of class for additional information that will be mailed to you. No refund if you cancel one day prior to or after.

Amish Holiday Outing
This is the trip to stock up for all of your holiday cooking and baking! Purchase blocks of chocolate and many other items in bulk. We will travel to Buchanan County to visit many of the Amish shops and stores! Also included with be stops to Quilt shops, bakeries, and furniture stores. Lunch will be on your own at a local eatery. Please register and pay before November 3rd.

AQS Quilt Expo-DesMoines
Leave the driving to us! Ride in comfort on a Hawkeye Stages luxury bus. Enjoy a bit of Quilter's camaraderie & fun as we travel. Get a few tips on Quilt Show Etiquette & how to get the most out of your day at the Expo. Enjoy viewing hundreds of breathtaking quilts. Wander through the vendor's booths. Try your hand at the newest machines & gadgets. See the newest fabrics & watch for free demos. You can take a class if you wish. When the doors close at 6pm, step back onto the bus & we'll go as a group to an eatery where you can order your meal at your own expense. Enjoy Show & Tells on the way back to Marshalltown. Register & pay to receive additional information about how to apply for your admission to the show & any classes you want to take. Fee does not include admission to the Expo or meals.

Artisans of Tama County
Some of the most impressive works of art are created by the artists in Tama County. This tour will visit their studios and/or places of business. Among the things you will see are the following: stained glass and how it is created, beautiful quilts some of which represent historical tradition, creations made of barbed wire, and a technique that paints metal objects like vases, trays, and pitchers. It will be a full but leisurely day with transportation provided. There will be a break in the day for lunch on your own. Come and see that art is thriving in Tama County. We will meet in the parking lot of STC High and board the vans at 8:45 in the morning.

Des Moines Renaissance Faire
Travel back in time and experience life in a Tudor Village. Experience the music, food, and games of the period. The instructor will provide a brief overview of life in England in the 15th and 16th centuries, and the Renaissance in general. If you have never attended a Renaissance faire, you are missing out on an incredible adventure. This is a fun and wholesome activity for the entire family. Parking, admission & transportation included; food & shopping on your own. Prepay & register by 8/22.
