Occupational Spanish

Spanish for Ophthalmologists

Intended Audience: Any ophthalmologists who may come into contact with Spanish-speaking patients.

Program Description: Designed to provide functional Spanish language skills for ophthalmologists. The program utilizes phonetic encoding to address the most important Spanish commands, questions, and phrases critical to serving ophthalmology patients. No prior knowledge of Spanish is necessary.

Content: An 86-page manual and two accompanying CDs covers work-specific language sections that include welcoming and receiving patients, common expressions to guide conversation and collect personal, medical and insurance information from the patient, conduct a primary assessment, perform an ophthalmologic eye exam, deliever and explain diagnoses and treatments, provide assistance to children and parents, and dismiss patients from the office.

Objectives: To use Spanish phrases, commands, and questions needed to treat and diagnose Spanish-speaking patients.
