Interested in Emergency Services?
First Responders Training is usually the initial training opportunity
for volunteers and those who are interested
in future jobs in Emergency Services.
Volunteer First Responders are desperately
needed in rural communities to assist those
in need until ambulance service is
available.
EMT-B
(Emergency Medical Technician – Basic)
offers a “laddered” opportunity to
acquire skills in Emergency Services.
Persons who have completed their initial
EMT-B and
EMT-I training
have several opportunities for CEHs to maintain
their professional certifications (ie: EMS
in the Field, an annual conference that
provides at least 12 CEHs, and similar events).
IVCE
Firefighters
Volunteer firefighters can attend the
60-hour Firefighter I and the 32-hour
Firefighter II class offered several
times a year at different area fire
departments. Vital ongoing training for all
firefighters is part of
IVCE's
annual curriculum (including Pipeline
Emergencies, Hazmat Awareness,
Operations,
Search and Rescue, Command Spanish).
Specialized
Law Enforcement
classes are available upon request for law
enforcement personnel. Regularly scheduled
classes for this group include CPR, first
aid, and bloodborne pathogens training.
Occupational
Spanish for Emergency
Personnel is available throughout the year.
Specialized Spanish courses are taught for
EMS, firefighters, and/or law enforcement
personnel, and these courses are available
onsite (if enrollment is adequate) or at
IVCE with combined departments generating adequate
enrollment.
