IVCE Industry classes offered in January
MARSHALLTOWN – Iowa Valley Continuing Education is offering a variety of Industry classes this January. These classes will include two different welding courses as well as an HVAC course.
Career Pipe Welding is a 16 week welding course that will prepare you for a career in pipe welding with GTAW. Topics include safety; techniques such as freehand, finger stall, and walking the cup; pipe fitting techniques including preparation, beveling, hot weld, pipe purging, hot welding, heavy wall welding, stainless steel, and exotic alloys. Students will have the opportunity to become certified! You must have a basic knowledge of welding processes before taking this course. Career Pipe Welding, course number IND 2490 001, will be held on Tuesdays, Jan. 15 through May 7 from 6 - 9 pm. There will be no class on March 9. Cost is $900.
Earn a manufacturing welding certificate in this 16 week MIG (Wire) Welding course. Course number IND 9300 001 runs Thursdays, Jan. 17 through May 9, 6 - 9 pm. There will be no class on March 21. Students will have the opportunity to become certified! Price is $900.
Both welding classes will be held at the Business and Technology Center Welding Lab on the Marshalltown Community College Campus, 3700 S. Center St., Marshalltown. The instructor for both courses is a United Association certified welder. Courses do not include the cost of testing.
HVAC Basic , is a 16 week course that will cover the basic study of heating and cooling equipment. This course includes study of function and operation of heating and cooling systems. Upon completion of this course students should be able to demonstrate knowledge of: fundamentals, combustion, furnace flow paths, startup, shutdown, fundamentals of refrigeration, refrigeration systems, types of refrigeration systems, and refrigeration system operation. Class (IND 1200 001) runs Tuesdays & Thursdays, Jan. 15 through May 9, from 6 – 9 pm. Class is held on the Marshalltown Community College Campus, 3700 S. Center St., Marshalltown in the J.W. Norris Technology Center, Room 90. Cost is $576.
