Management of Dental Office Emergencies
MARSHALLTOWN – Iowa Valley Continuing Education will be offering a 3 hour class for all dental professionals on the topic of managing dental office emergencies and minor maxillofacial trauma on Wednesday, April 2, 2014 from 1 – 4 pm.
Dr. John Kazwell, DDS, Ames Oral Surgeon and Adjunct Assistant Faculty University of Iowa College of Dentistry will present Dental Office Emergencies. During this class you will learn the causes, physiology, diagnosis, treatments, and prevention of syncope, myocardial infarction, stroke, post treatment bleeding, asthma attack, and instrument aspiration. You will also learn what you should have in your dental office emergency kit to care for your patients with these and other emergencies.
Then Dr. Peter Cho, DDS, MS, Ames Oral Surgeons, Adjunct Faculty University of Iowa Department of OMFS, and Diplomat, American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery will present information on minor maxillofacial trauma. During his presentation you will learn the classifications, diagnosis, treatment, definitions, and proper antibiotic therapy in the management of oral trauma, dentoalveolar fractures, dental fractures, soft tissue injuries (animal related injuries), management of facial bone Injuries, panfacial, ZMC, orbital, and mandibular fractures. You will also learn about the management of maxillofacial infections, diagnosis, classifications, definitions, proper antibiotic therapy, and surgical treatment.
The Management of Dental Office Emergencies and Minor Maxillofacial Trauma class is intended for the dentist, dental hygienist, and dental assistant. The class has been submitted to the Iowa Board of Dental Examiners for 3 hours or continuing education credit. The class will take place at Iowa Valley Continuing Education, 3702 S Center St, Marshalltown, room 808.
