Personal Protection Series
MARSHALLTOWN – Have you ever thought about what you would do if you encountered a violent or dangerous situation in a quick shop, department store, restaurant, or a park? Would you know what to do, what to look for, how to react, how to form a plan to protect yourself and your family? Through this series of three personal protection classes you will learn basic situational awareness, Basic Self-Defense 1 and Basic Self-Defense 2.
During the first class titled Situational Awareness: A Self Protection Strategy, you will learn how to use your common sense in an uncommon threatening situation. Past participants have said they learned new information and tips that they can definitely use and the presenter made the topic interesting and a bit humorous for such a serious topic, which was appreciated. This class will take place on Tuesday, April 8 from 6:00 to 7:30 pm and the cost is $10.
The second class is Basic Self-Defense 1 in which you will be instructed on the most effective and easy-to-learn methods to deter an attacker. This course is designed for women, men, and responsible teenagers. Parents and teens are encouraged to attend together. The Basic Self-Defense 1 class will take place on Tuesday, April 22 and Thursday, April 24 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm and the cost is $39.
The last class is Basic Self-Defense 2 in which you will review Basic Self-Defense 1 skills and progress to new customized, modified and adapted content to meet your specific needs. Basic Self-Defense 2 class will take place on Tuesday, May 6 and Thursday, May 8 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm and the cost is $39.
This series of Personal Protection classes is sponsored by Iowa Valley Continuing Education with expert instructors from law enforcement. The evaluations from previous classes are excellent and past students have learned a wealth of information every time they attend one of their classes.
