Supervising in Health Care Facilities
MARSHALLTOWN – The Supervising in Health Care Facilities class will be offered beginning on April 24, 2014. This is a required course for LPN's who are in a supervisory role in a long term care facility. This course is designed to assist the LPN in gaining the knowledge and skills needed to successfully manage resident care and personnel in the health care facility. You will examine selected management problems, discuss related basic theory and principles, and apply these to solving management problems. Health care facilities as organizations, management tasks and skills, leadership qualities, and appreciation of the individual needs of residents and staff members will be discussed throughout the course. This course is required for the LPN that is in a supervisory role in a long-term care health facility. The class is also open to RNs.
Supervising in Health Care Facilities will meet on Thursdays from 4:00 – 9:00 pm and from 2:00 – 8:00 pm on two of the meeting times. The class will also meet on Saturday, May 3 from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. Class will meet on the following dates, April 24, May 1, 3, 8, 15, 22, 29, June 5, 12. The class will be held at Iowa Valley Continuing Education in Marshalltown, 3702 S. Center St., room 612. Cost of the course is $299, and successful completion will grant nurses 4.3 CEUs.
