Shopping locally to find healthy foods
IOWA FALLS – The nation and more importantly Iowans, are concerned more every day about the high obesity rate in our families. Several options are available for shopping locally to find healthy food choices in Iowa. On April 16, Iowa Valley Continuing Education will offer a course so consumers can learn more about local co-operative buying groups, "eat-local" growers groups, and shopping for healthier choices at local grocery stores.
“Purchases can be made directly from these sources, and it’s a real comfort to know where your food came from,” says IVCE Program Assistant Deb Sabin. “Receive the best nutritional value for your money. It's easier and more flexible than you think! Free samples will be offered at the class.”
“Healthy Foods – Shopping Locally,” course number HEW 2233 003, will be held on Tuesday, April 16, from 6:30 to 8:30 pm at Nature’s Korner, 13721 MM Ave. in Iowa Falls. Cost of the class is $10; $5 paid at the time of registration and $5 to the instructor at the class.
