Start your own worm bin
GRINNELL – A worm bin is easy to start and simple to maintain. In this hands-on workshop, create your own vermicomposting bin for home use. All materials and tools will be provided as part of the course fee, including a plastic tub, bedding material, and a discounted pound of vermicomposting worms. Instructions for care and harvest of the bin will be provided. You will be ready to start composting right away!
Instructor Jordan Scheibel was educated at Grinnell College and co-founded and managed the Grinnell Community Garden for four years. After graduation, he worked at Grinnell Heritage Farm, a certified organic vegetable farm for over three growing seasons. Jordan now operates Middle Way Farm, a chemical-free market garden serving the Grinnell area through farmers market and CSA, in addition to coordinating Iowa Valley Continuing Education classes in Poweshiek County. He teaches a wide variety of community education classes on gardening, food, and meditation.
Start Your Own Worm, will be offered on Wednesday, April 16 from 6:30 to 9:00 pm. Classes will be held at Iowa Valley Grinnell, 123 6th Avenue West, room 145. Cost of the class is $49. Register for course ENV 1201(1).
