GRINNELL – Expand your communication at IVCE! Beginning Spanish is being offered this spring starting Monday, April 21 in Grinnell.
Start learning the Spanish language from the very basics, beginning with the alphabet and moving into common vocabulary, phrases, and greetings. There are no books to purchase, all class materials and worksheets will be provided. This twice weekly class is intended for beginning Spanish speakers but may also be used as a refresher course for students who have learned basic Spanish in the past. Learn the language from a native speaker in a fun, interactive classroom setting. Class will meet twelve times over six weeks.
Instructor Sixta Hernandez was born in Puerto Rico and moved to Chicago as a child, learning English as a second language. She moved back to Puerto Rico as a teenager and spent several decades there, including 18 years working for Proctor & Gamble, before moving to Grinnell in 2006. She has a degrees in business administration and secretarial science and has tutored high school students in Spanish over the years.
Class will meet 6:00 to 7:00 pm on Mondays and Thursdays, April 21 through June 2, excluding Memorial Day on May 26. Beginning Spanish is held at Iowa Valley Grinnell, 123 6th Avenue West, Grinnell, room 109.
