GRINNELL – For the new or experienced firearm owner, learn the proper procedure for taking care of your firearm from a professional gunsmith including gun safety while performing maintenance, disassembly, cleaning, minor maintenance and parts inspection, reassembly, and post-reassembly function and safety checks. Firearm Maintenance will be held on Tuesday, April 22.
Training will be followed by cleaning of student guns. Guns will be treated as tools - no politics in class! Absolutely no live ammunition on campus, bring your gun only for cleaning and maintenance. A firearm cleaning and maintenance tool and supply list will be provided to students upon registration. Students will be required to bring these items to class.
Instructor David Kaiser is a graduate of the Lassen College gunsmithing program in Susanville, CA. He has worked as a Machinist, Gunsmith and Technical Support Gunsmith in California and Iowa, and has numerous tool and product designs as well as process adaptations to the gunsmithing industry to his credit. Although his specialty is in repair work, he's also comfortable with stock making and other aspects of custom gun building.
Firearm Maintenance will be held from 6:00 to 9:00 pm. Class will be held at Iowa Valley Grinnell, 123 6th Avenue West, room 115. Cost of the class is $49. Register for course IND 9010(1) by Monday, April 21.
