Coaching Authorization series
MARSHALLTOWN – Iowa Valley Continuing Education will be offering the Coaching Authorization Series of classes this spring. These 5 different classes will meet the state of Iowa requirements for coaching authorization when you complete the series or the specific classes that you need.
The classes that make up the series include 10 hours in the Structure and Function of the Human Body, 10 hours in Human Growth and Development of children and youth in relation to physical activity, 10 hours in the Techniques and Theory of coaching interscholastic athletics, 5 hours Professional Ethics and Legal Responsibilities of Coaches, 20 hours Prevention and Care of Athletic Injuries and Medical and Safety Problems.
The online portion of these classes will be available from May 28-June 23 for you to work on and complete at home prior to the required in person class meetings. You will need to spend 12-14 hours per week completing the online course work prior to the required in person class time.
The in person class time will take place on June 23 - 27, in the evenings. The cost for all of the courses that comprise the coaching authorization is $405. The course number is FUN 0049 (2).
Students will need to have access to the internet, email address, computer skills to navigate the online course work, and web browsers of Internet Explorer, Firefox, and Safari.
