Lead Safe Renovator Initial offered June 18
MARSHALLTOWN – Iowa Valley Continuing Education will be offering “Lead Safe Renovator” on June 18. This is an 8-hour course for persons who have not previously been trained in “Lead Safe Work Practices.” This course concentrates on specific work practices that are lead-safe, and describes prohibited work practices when performing renovations. Demonstrations will be done on lead safe work practices including set up, clean up using hands on activities, and it illustrates proper on-the-job training for non certified workers. It will also provide information on Federal and State specific regulations that must be followed as a certified renovator. It provides examples of how to maintain and document required reports. It is a course to prepare renovators for certification. At the end of the course there will be an exam that requires a score of 80% or better, once completed participants will be eligible to apply for certification with the Iowa Department of Public Health. This course is also approved by PMSB for 4 hours of safety for license renewal. This is not a course on how to do lead abatement.
Class will be offered on Tuesday, June 18, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm. It will be held at the Business and Technology Center, room 205, located at the northeast corner of the Marshalltown Community College Campus, 3700 S. Center St., Marshalltown. Cost of the course is $159.
