Creative Retirement to visit John Ernest Vineyard and Winery
MARSHALLTOWN –Looking for a great way to celebrate summer? Want to take a short morning trip, filled with delicious food, scenery and wine? Then come join Iowa Valley Continuing Education Creative Retirement members when they travel to the John Ernest Vineyard and Winery (JEV), Tama, on Wed., July 10. The group will travel by chartered bus and leave IVCE, 3702 South Center St., Marshalltown, at 8:30 am.
The group will enjoy tasty breakfast treats and have the opportunity to sample JEV wines. Jamie Busch-Upah, John Ernest Vineyard & Winery manager, will be our hostess. Jamie is a graduate of UNI with a degree in public relations, marketing and journalism. She began working at the winery in May 2005 with the idea of launching her family's business into a "whirling success." Join Jamie at the John Ernest Vineyard & Winery where she will give us background on the wine business in Iowa, history of grapes in Iowa, information on the correct way to taste wine and explain the key components of judging the quality of wine. A tour of the winery and a question and answer period will be included. Creative Retirement members can also enjoy the surrounding scenic views of the vineyard from the porch of the winery’s retail store.
Cost of the trip is $25 per person. Persons should be Creative Retirement members to register. Cost of a Creative Retirement membership is $10 and allows access to a variety of programs, events and trips through September 2014.
