Judy Losing, Emerson receive IALL awards
Iowa Valley Continuing Education has announced that Judy Losing received an Outstanding Support Personnel Award and Emerson Process Management (Fisher Controls) received a Citation of Merit from the Iowa Association for Lifelong Learning at IALL’s annual conference last week.
Judy Losing, IVCE Executive Assistant, was nominated for the IALL Outstanding Support Personnel Award by IVCE administrators Jacque Goodman, Sandy Supianoski and Julie Thomas. The nomination noted that when IVCE underwent reorganization and several positions changed, Losing took a positive approach. “Her patience, no matter how many questions she handles, is beyond normal … it’s like she lives to help others,” her nominators wrote. “She is calm, pleasant, helpful, and incredibly knowledgeable on all the day-to-day work functions. She has garnered the respect of all who have the opportunity to work with her, and she’s a great asset to our team. Every office needs that person who’s like the ‘glue’ that holds things together. For Iowa Valley, Judy is more like a brick foundation. If the ship starts to sink, we want Judy in our lifeboat!”
Goodman, Thomas and Jean Brownlie nominated Emerson Process Management for IALL’s Citation of Merit Award to recognize the company’s long-standing involvement in and support of the Fisher Machine Operator Training Program, offered in partnership with IVCE. The first Machine Operator Training Program (MOTP) was held 10 years ago with the motto “Earn while you Learn,” when Fisher saw the need for individuals to be properly trained as well as being committed to a machine operator career locally with Fisher. The company is experiencing a 25 percent reduction in its machine operator workforce due to retirements, and the MOTP trains qualified participants while paying them for their time … a win-win effort. Those who successfully complete the program and receive certification are hired after their training is completed.
“Iowa Valley was pleased to nominate Emerson Process Management (Fisher Controls) for this award,” says Goodman. “Their leadership, hard work, innovative thinking, and partnership are making the skilled workforce in Central Iowa a priority and a noble profession.”
