Supervising in Health Care Facilities
MARSHALLTOWN – The Supervising in Health Care Facilities class will be offered beginning on Sept. 23, 2013. This is a required course for LPN’s who are in a supervisory role in a long term care facility. This course is designed to assist the LPN in gaining the knowledge and skills needed to successfully manage resident care and personnel in the health care facility. You will examine selected management problems, discuss related basic theory and principles, and apply these to solving management problems. Health care facilities as organizations, management tasks and skills, leadership qualities, and appreciation of the individual needs of residents and staff members will be discussed throughout the course. This course is required for the LPN that is in a supervisory role in a long term care health facility. The class is also open to RNs.
Supervising in Health Care Facilities will meet on Monday evenings from 5-9 pm and a few selected Saturdays from 9 am – 3 pm. Class will meet on the following dates, Sept. 23, 30, Oct. 7, 14, 21, 28, Nov. 4, 11 from 5 - 9 pm and three Saturdays Sept. 28, Oct. 19, Nov. 9 from 9 am – 3 pm. The class will be held at Iowa Valley Continuing Education in Marshalltown, 3702 S. Center St., room 610. Cost of the course is $299, and successful completion will grant nurses 4.3 CEUs.

At registration time you will need to provide your name, home address and phone, employer name and phone, your social security number, your nursing license number, and your payment method for the class. MasterCard, Visa, and Discover are accepted. The registration deadline is Sept. 13.
