Dousing - An Ancient Art
TAMA – One of Iowa Valley's most popular classes is a hands-on experience with dousing. The instructor for this class is Steve Meyer. Meyer is active in the restoration of pioneer cemeteries and active in the genealogical area. In this fascinating class, he will show and let students experience dousing for graves. Meyer says, "Anything underground can be found by dousing." During this class he will use dousing to locate graves where the markers no longer exist. He will show students how the person dousing can determine the location of a grave and if the grave is that of an adult or a child, a man or a woman.
Participants are amazed at what they are able to do under his instruction. Dousing – An Ancient Art, will be held on Tuesday, August 26 with a rain date of Thursday, August 28. Those enrolled should meet at the King Tower Cafe's parking lot, 1701 E. 5th, Tama, at 6:15 pm as we will leave for the cemetery promptly at 6:30 pm.
