Transcendental Meditation And Maharishi University Day Trip Will Be Featured By Creative Retirement
MARSHALLTOWN – Iowa Valley Continuing Education’s Creative Retirement program will be featuring two programs of interest based on Transcendental Meditation. An introductory lecture on Transcendental Meditation will be held on Saturday, Oct. 13, from 1:30 to 3 pm at IVCE. Also being offered is a day trip to the Maharishi University of Management in Fairfield on Wednesday, Oct. 24.
“Transcendental Meditation” will be led by Dr. Stephanie Schwortz and Dr. Shanaz Vollmer. The speakers will discuss the benefits of practicing the Transcendental Meditation technique from the perspective of mental potential, health, social behavior and world peace. The focus will include some of the scientific research that has been completed, as well as the universal appeal and effortlessness of the technique. Time will be available for questions.
The Maharishi University Trip will include stops at the Maharishi University of Management (M.U.M), Maharishi Vedic City and downtown Fairfield. There will be an opportunity to visit a number of buildings that have been constructed according to the principles of Vedic architecture. Participants will learn more about the new Sustainable Living Center, as well as “Consciousness-Based Education,” unique to M.U.M. Participants will also learn about Raj Ayurvedic Health Spa and visit the Domes (where Oprah meditated) and have lunch in downtown Fairfield. Dr. Schwortz will be the host of the trip.
