IVCE Excel I & II
GRINNELL – Iowa Valley Continuing Education is offering a chance for you to extend your knowledge of the useful program, Excel. Learn all of the great tips, tricks and shortcuts in Excel I and increase your knowledge with data dynamics, charts and tables with Excel II.
Excel I. Are you already proficient at the basics of navigation and formatting in excel? Would you like to increase your knowledge and decrease your workload? This class is for you! Learn some of the bazillion shortcuts and tricks that will save you a ton of time in your daily number crunching and data collection. Includes takeaway handout for future quick reference. Previous excel instruction is required. Computers 101 and Digital Storage recommended but not required. Excel I will be held on Monday, June 16 and Wednesday, June 18 from 1:00 to 3:00 pm. Register for course number CMP 1275 (1).
Excel II. Are you already an excel rock star? Do you need to expand your skills in data manipulation and presentation? This class is for you! Give new life to your data by customizing charts and graphs or make your numbers divulge hidden secrets by plugging into pivot tables. Excel Basics I recommended. Excel II will be held on Monday, June 23 and Wednesday, June 25. Register for course number CMP 1276 (1).
Both of these classes will be held at J&B Bistro, located off of the Dining Room in Buckley Hall at the Mayflower Community in Grinnell. The Bistro can be accessed through the Park Street entrance of Buckley Hall between 1st and 2nd Ave and is located on the bottom floor. Parking is available along Park Street between 1st and 2nd Ave as well as on the north side of 2nd Ave between Broad Street and Park Street, adjacent to the Mayflower community garden. The cost of each class is $69 and both will be offered from 1:00 to 3:00 pm. Classes will include takeaway handouts for future quick reference. Mouse proficiency and previous excel instruction is required. Class will be conducted at a comfortable pace geared toward the "seasoned" learner. Register one week before the start of class to reserve your spot.
Instructor Sandy McAntire is a certified trainer with over 20 years in the industry and has taught for Iowa Valley Continuing Education for 8 years. She has an MBA with expertise in combining technology with marketing and graphic design.
The Excel classes are part of the Summer Senior Computer Series. Whether you want to sharpen your mind and keep your memory strong, complete a creative project, learn more about how to communicate using the Internet, start using a smart phone or tablet, or just want to become more computer proficient, the Summer Senior Computer Series has something for you. All laptops and learning materials are provided. Computers run on Windows operating system. Each class includes a 10 minute break with light refreshments from Mayflower Dining served.
Mayflower and non-Mayflower residents are equally welcome to attend. All non-Mayflower participants must pre-register with Iowa Valley Continuing Education. Mayflower residents can register with Activities Coordinator Anne Sunday. Please register and pay for classes at least one week in advance in order to guarantee a spot in the class and sufficient enrollment.
