MCC/ECC Medical Assisting program ranked #2

 

Marshalltown Community College and Ellsworth Community College have been named the number two Medical Assisting program in Iowa for 2021 by www.findmedicalassistantprograms.org/.

This distinction is awarded based on tuition fee affordability, number of courses, student-faculty ratio, last cohort’s retention rates, financial aid, placement services, counseling services, and satisfied students. MCC and ECC offer an 11-month Medical Assisting Diploma. The program is also a Last-Dollar Scholarship program which means it is eligible for free tuition for students that qualify.

Medical assistants are an integral part of the healthcare system and provide valuable support to patients and medical professionals in a variety of settings and roles. You can find medical assistants in clinics, urgent care centers, labs and hospitals, and dialysis centers. They can be found working directly with patients or in the office to support the daily functions of the practice.

Multi-skilled health professionals that are proficient in administrative, clinical, laboratory duties, medical assistants are also part of the PCMH Team (Patient-Centered Medical Home Team) that are patient liaisons.  According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, medical assisting is an in-demand career field that is growing much faster than average for all health occupations.

“The program at ECC and MCC is geared towards preparing our students to enter the workforce with the skills and knowledge they will need to succeed. This includes administrative, clinical and lab skills,” commented Medical Assisting Coordinator Dee Lynk.

The Medical Assisting Programs at ECC and MCC got re-accredited by CAAHEP/MAERB until 2027. This very prestigious award for Medical Assisting Programs recognizes that the programs are in substantial compliance with the nationally established accreditation standards.
