Real Lights! Cameras! Action!
Whether you’re
interested in “on-air” work such as television reporters or radio
personalities, or if you like the behind the scenes positions such as
video camera operators, video editors, producers and directors,
Broadcast Technology is an exciting and challenging career.
MCC’s Broadcast
Technology program specializes in training students not only to fill
television and radio positions, but also multi-media producer positions
in various corporations. Companies and organizations which use the World
Wide Web have a need for people to produce audio and video.
Students will get
first hand experience with state of the art equipment. MCC’s program has
a fully equipped television studio and control room, a new digital radio
lab and multiple non-linear digital editing systems.
Students will also get
to complete a work site internship at either the local radio and
television stations as well as the on-campus radio and television
facilities. Many of the student productions are aired on the campus
cable television station, giving students real world experience in both
production and performance.
Job Outlook
Competition for jobs
as “on air” personalities such as announcers is keen, but those who have
knowledge of specialized fields such as business, consumer and health
news may have an advantage. Success depends on how well a person can
communicate. Strong competition also exists in the technical aspect of
the field since wages are generally higher in major metropolitan areas.
Prospects are better for entry-level positions in smaller cities.
Graduates of the Broadcast Technology program can expect to look for
jobs in radio, television, corporate media, the motion picture film
industry, advertising, and public relations companies. Positions will
include announcers, news analysts, reporters, audio and visual equipment
operators, editors, disc jockeys, videographers, video producers, master
control operators, and television station managers.
MCC offers Real Direction for a future
of Real Success!
