Early Childhood Education
A love of children, patience, and good communication and organizational skills are necessary qualities for a person in the childcare profession. In addition to these characteristics, childcare professionals must have an understanding of child development and an acceptance of diverse backgrounds, both social and economical. Developmentally appropriate guidance skills are also necessary. The business aspect of operating a child care center includes maintaining high nutritional and health standards; supervising assistants, student observers and volunteers; working closely with parents and families; and accounting skills.
High turnover creates good job opportunities for childcare positions. Employment is projected to increase about as fast as the average for all occupations through 2016.
