MCC Broadcasting program seeking video project opportunities in the community
The Broadcasting department at Marshalltown Community College is looking for video project opportunities in the Marshalltown area. As part of the Advanced Television Production class at MCC, instructor Steve Muntz is hoping these student-led projects will provide real world experience in the television industry.
“I call it a ‘client approach curriculum’ that allows students to work directly with clients to produce short video projects that the clients can actually use,” says Muntz. “It could be a TV commercial, a short promotional video or even a training related video project.”
The client would be required to meet with Muntz and students in the class to coordinate the project and come up with a timeline so the project can be completed by the deadline. Students will be involved in helping with the script, communicating with the client, shooting video, editing and distribution of the final project. There may be a small fee charged for some of the projects to cover expenses.
“I consider this a great opportunity for my students to work on real projects that will be used by the clients, and in turn allow the clients to have a professionally produced video to use for their company or organization.”
Muntz would like any business or organization that may be interested in a video to contact him by phone at 641-844-5797 or email at steve.muntz@iavalley.edu.
The MCC Broadcasting department will review all requests and select the projects that meet the requirements of the class projects. The deadline for submissions will be February 15. Organizations are encouraged to contact Steve Muntz as soon as possible to be considered for the video projects.
