Tigers fall to Lakers
MARSHALLTOWN, IA - The MCC Women's Basketball (5-11, 0-4) was unable to overcome a cold shooting night, falling to conference foe Iowa Lakes (7-13, 3-4). The Tigers finished the night 20 of 58 from the field.
Freshman Mackenzie Gott (Oskaloosa, IA) turned in a double-double, scoring 12 points and collecting 11 rebounds. Sophomore Mady Van Metre (Marshalltown, IA) put up 13 points to lead the Tigers offensively.
The Tigers went shot for shot with the Lakers in the first half taking a four point lead into the locker room up 23-19. Costly turnovers and missed shots by the Tigers allowed the Lakers to score easy baskets in transition to start the second half. The Tigers would answer Iowa Lakes surge going up by as many as 7 points with 12 minutes remaining in the second, but the cold shooting would continue as the Tigers went 4 for 16 down the stretch.
The Tigers continue the home stand as they take on 17th ranked conference opponent Southeastern Community College (12-5, 3-1) on Saturday, Jan. 19 at the Student Activities Center. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:00 pm.
