MCC Construction Technology Open House is May 9
The Marshalltown Community College Construction Technology students will proudly exhibit their 2013-2014 project during an open house on Friday, May 9, noon to 5:30 pm, at the Gary and Sheri Edwards residence at 605 Grandview Dr., in Marshalltown. The event is open to the public.
MCC Construction Tech students worked with Professor Russ Yarrow on the project starting last August. The project consists of a 1,825 sq. ft. ranch style house with a partially finished walkout basement, large three-car garage and 450 sq. ft. covered deck.
“The work performed on the construction of the residence not only gives the students the opportunity to test their skills, but also gives them the satisfaction of completing a major project,” says Russ Yarrow.
This is the 17th year for MCC Construction Technology projects in the community. MCC students have built 13 residential houses and spent two years working on the East Student Housing project completed in 2009.
Directions from the MCC campus to the open house on Friday, May 9 are: take Hwy 30 West to Highland Acres Road. Travel north on Highland Acres road to Arnold Drive (3/8 mile past Lincoln Way). Turn east on Arnold Drive and go one block to Grandview. Look to your left and the residence at 605 Grandview is in sight.
The MCC Construction Technology students will give tours of the house that day from noon to 5:30 pm. Pop and cookies will be served.
