MCC Construction Technology program lands housing project for 2013-14
Students in the Marshalltown Community College Construction Technology program will build a residential home for Gary and Sheryl Edwards of Marshalltown this coming year. This will be the 16th year for student-built projects in the community.
The project will consist of a 1,824 sq. ft. ranch style house with a walkout basement. It will also include a 1,100 sq. ft. garage along with a covered porch and deck. Students will build the house during the August 2013 to May 2014 school year, supervised by instructor Russell Yarrow. The project is set to be completed on May 9, 2014.
MCC students finished building the program’s 13th residential home this past May. Through these annual construction program projects, students are given the opportunity to work on real-life housing projects while at the same time, helping a family achieve their goals.
The College is always looking for more students to join its strong Construction program. For more information on how to enroll in MCC’s Construction Technology program, contact the MCC Admissions Office at 641-752-7106.
