MCC hosts Advanced Manufacturing Open House this October
Marshalltown Community College plans to host a Manufacturing Open House on Oct. 3 in conjunction with National Manufacturing Week. The Open House will run from 2:30 – 4:30 pm. Visitors will have the opportunity to tour facilities, see machine demonstrations, speak to instructors, and speak to other students who are enrolled in the career technical programs. The MCC Admissions Team will also be there to answer any questions and provide campus tours.
“There are many career opportunities in Advanced Manufacturing locally and statewide and MCC has the academic programs to train the workforce for many of these jobs,” says Chris Russell, MCC Dean of Students and Academic Affairs. “If you are interested in learning about these program and career areas, please visit MCC during our Open House.”
Visitors can come at any time from 2:30 – 4:30 pm. MCC staff will hand out an itinerary when you enter through the Admissions Office. Snacks will be provided in the Welding Lab hallway.
MCC’s open house will include:
- A tour of the Machine Tool Technology facilities. Visitors will get a chance to see the Plasma Table and Five-Axis Mill in action.
- Mechanical Trainer and Programmable Logic Control (PLC) demonstrations.
- A tour of the Welding lab. Visitors will also have the opportunity to operate the Virtual Welding Trainer.
- Student Success Specialists will be on hand for specific questions about enrolling into one of these manufacturing programs.
Local companies have also been invited to share displays in the college hallway with examples of manufacturing in the real world. Students at MCC learn how the college partners with these companies to prepare employees for jobs where they may produce these types of advanced products.
Manufacturing Week has been designed to expand knowledge about and improve general public perception of manufacturing careers and manufacturing’s value to the U.S. economy. Manufacturing Day is for students, parents, educators, media, customers, suppliers and the community at large. Visitors will learn about real career opportunities, training and resources. In addition, manufacturers will learn about business improvement resources and services delivered through manufacturing extension partnerships.
If you have any questions, contact the MCC Admissions Office at 641-752-7106 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
