Iowa Valley Community College District Chancellor Dr. Chris Duree of State Center was honored with the Alumni Achievement Award presented by Iowa State University’s College of Human Sciences. He received the award at a university-wide ceremony on Oct. 10; the ceremony was part of Iowa State’s Homecoming weekend.

ISU representatives noted that Dr. Duree received the award based on his service and achievements in education. He has worked diligently to increase educational opportunities for his students, focusing especially on the minority student population. He also has advocated for scholarships to first-generation and foreign-born students pursuing their degree in his District and has mentored multiple students to guide their continued academic success.

Dr. Duree, a 2007 ISU graduate in education, is one of five alumni to receive awards from the College of Human Sciences in 2014.
