Tuesday / September 15, 2015
The Iowa Association of Community College Trustees (IACCT) Board of Directors presented retiring IACCT Board member Conrad Dejardin of Marshalltown with a state flag that was flown at the Iowa Capitol in recognition and thanks for his 17 years of service to Iowa’s community colleges. Dejardin served as Vice President of Continuing Education & Community Services for Iowa Valley Community College District (IVCCD) from 1967 to 1996; he then was elected to the IVCCD Board of Directors in 1998 and has served as IVCCD Board Chair since 2006. Dejardin did not seek re-election this fall, ending his 17-year legacy of service to both the IVCCD and IACCT Boards.
Cheryl Langston, IACCT Board Chair, said, “Conrad definitely has made a tremendously positive impact on not just IACCT or Iowa Valley Community College District, but on the statewide community college system as a whole. We’ve all benefitted from his wisdom and insights. I’m certain that his name will be flagged in Iowa’s Community College history for all that he’s contributed over the years.”
Dejardin thanked the IACCT Board for the token of appreciation, saying, “It’s been an honor and a privilege to have served and contributed to this organization.”
MJ Dolan, IACCT Executive Director, added, “Conrad’s attention to detail, sense of humor, loyalty and integrity, as well as his strong voice in support of Iowa’s Community Colleges (particularly for Adult Basic and Continuing Education programs) have been valuable assets to IACCT, Iowa’s Community Colleges, and the state of Iowa. I sure am going to miss him on the Board … he’s irreplaceable. I am so grateful for all his kindness and for his strength of conviction for his beliefs. He’s been a wonderful role model for us all!”
