Thursday / April 28, 2016
Professor April Graveman’s online Biology 151 (Nutrition) course at Iowa Valley Community College District (IVCCD) has received the distinction of Blackboard Exemplary Course. The award, presented by leading education technology company Blackboard Inc., celebrates faculty and course designers from schools, colleges and universities around the world who develop exciting and innovative courses that represent the very best in technology and learning.
Blackboard Exemplary Course winners develop technologically rich, engaging, well designed, and pedagogically sound courses that showcase best practices for the user community. Submissions were judged by peers and by experts on the components of course design, interaction and collaboration, assessment, and learner support.
“I’m proud to recognize educators who are constantly finding new, innovative ways to inspire their students to learn,” said Bill Ballhaus, Chairman, CEO and President of Blackboard. “We congratulate the winners of the Exemplary Course Award, and we look forward to continuing to partner with these and other talented educators to bring their unique visions to life.”
Professor Graveman’s online BIO151 course is offered for college credit at Ellsworth Community College, Marshalltown Community College and Iowa Valley Grinnell. Graveman will be honored alongside other outstanding recipients on the Blackboard website as well as in the Blackboard community.
“April continues to provide stellar leadership for IVCCD through both her quality online teaching and through her guidance to the college on distance learning methodologies,” says Dean of Students & Academic Affairs Dr. Chris Russell. “She has always worked hard to deliver engaging and excellent coursework to our students.”
