Tuesday / February 6, 2018
The IVCCD Orpheum Theater Center invites you to “let the good times roll” as the NOLA Jazz Band performs a Mardi Gras concert in the Black Box Theater on Saturday, Feb. 10, from 7 to 9 pm.
Based in Des Moines, NOLA Jazz Band personnel have been inducted into the Iowa Jazz, Blues, and Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. With a national following, the band plays its own version of Traditional Jazz Standards, current new music coming out of New Orleans, and a unique version of current songs and standards in the New Orleans Traditional style of playing.
The NOLA Jazz Band has played numerous times in New Orleans, and alongside a number of well-known traditional jazz and music groups including Davina & The Vagabonds from Minneapolis, Sony recording artist Bria Skonberg from New York City, and Dom Flemons of The Carolina Chocolate Drops. The band can be regularly found on the first Friday of many months at the Des Moines Social Club.
In true Mardi Gras spirit, all Orpheum concert-goers will enjoy a Cajun donut (beignet) and beads. Clementine red wine spritzers will be offered for sale.
NOLA Concert tickets are $15 each and can be purchased in advance at the Orpheum Theater Center, 220 E. Main St., Marshalltown. For more information, call the Orpheum at (641) 844-5921 or visit the Orpheum website at OrpheumCenter.com. There will be limited seating, and ticket sales the night of the concert will be first come, first served.
The Orpheum Theater Center is administered by Iowa Valley Community College District.
