University of Iowa’s ‘Dancers in Company’ to perform April 20
Monday / April 8, 2019
The University of Iowa’s premiere touring repertory company, Dancers in Company, will be bringing its talents to Marshalltown this month. The dancing troupe will perform at the IVCE Conference Center (Dejardin Hall) at 3702 S. Center St. on Saturday, April 20, at 7 pm. Sponsored by the Orpheum Theater Center, the performance is free and open to the public.
Now in its 35th year, the University of Iowa’s Dancers in Company presents dances centered on the theme of “taking ground.” Curated by company directors Jessica Anthony and Alex Bush, this evening of dancing engages with current and historical social and political movements that bring marginalized voices forward, as well as abstract and aesthetic investigations of equity and space.
Doors will open at 6:30 pm. Admission is free with the option of a free-will donation. Concessions will be available. Dancers In Company is the touring repertory dance company of the University of Iowa’s Department of Dance. The company of twelve dancers, undergraduates and graduate students, tours throughout Iowa and the Midwest from March to June each year performing live concerts and lecture demonstrations for audiences of all ages.
The IVCCD Orpheum Theater Center is owned and operated by Iowa Valley Community College District.
