|April 10, 2019||IVCCD Board considers Chancellor candidates and evaluation feedback in closed session. The Board will NOT name a new Chancellor at this meeting, but will specify its timelines and intentions for doing so.|

After ten years of service, Iowa Valley Community College District Chancellor Dr. Christopher Duree has announced his impending retirement effective June 30, 2019. The IVCCD Board of Directors conducted a series of open forums for faculty, staff, students and community members to provide input as it develops a profile for the next Chancellor of Iowa Valley Community College District. As a result of those forums and discussion at a Board retreat, these personal and professional characteristics are most sought-after:
- Personal Characteristics – Excellent communicator and listener; innovative, visionary, and curious; acts with integrity, honesty, and respectfulness; genuine and trustworthy; transparent and approachable; passionate and enthusiastic; flexible and adaptable; consensus builder.
- Professional Characteristics – Enhances a learner-centered environment in an age of declining enrollments; demonstrates experience with accreditation and student assessment; demonstrates experience building partnerships with business and industry; collaborates with all sectors of education (K-12, state agencies, Regent universities, private colleges, etc.); makes data-driven decisions; has experience with strategic program evaluation and development; understands the unique nature of IVCCD and its governance model; understands and appreciates diverse populations, diverse campuses, and their needs; demonstrates legislative acumen; is a fundraiser and friendraiser; is an empowering leader with an accountability focus; has expertise in change management and conflict resolution; and is committed to community involvement in all communities in the District.
