IVCCD earns 2018 Top Workplaces honors
Monday / September 17, 2018
Iowa Valley Community College District (IVCCD) has been awarded a 2018 Top Workplaces honor by The Des Moines Register. The award is based solely on employee feedback gathered through a third-party survey administered by research partner Energage, LLC, a leading provider of technology-based employee engagement tools. The anonymous survey measures several aspects of workplace culture, including alignment, execution, and connection, just to name a few.
“Top Workplaces is more than just recognition,” said Doug Claffey, CEO of Energage. “Our research shows organizations that earn the award attract better talent, experience lower turnover, and are better equipped to deliver bottom-line results. Their leaders prioritize and carefully craft a healthy workplace culture that supports employee engagement.”
The Des Moines Register recognized 150 Iowa companies and organizations as Top Workplaces for 2018. Of those, 25 were in the large category, 50 were mid-sized, and 75 were small. IVCCD is considered a mid-sized employer and was the only community college on that list. IVCCD was also honored as a Top Workplace in 2010, 2011, 2012, 2014, and 2016.
“The culture of our institution and the commitment of our employees to helping students succeed is a top priority for Iowa Valley,” says IVCCD Chancellor Dr. Chris Duree. “This marks the sixth time we’ve earned the Top Workplaces honor, and we can be proud of that achievement. The survey results are used to measure and continuously improve things like employee engagement, interdepartmental cooperation, leadership effectiveness, and commitment to our goals. We spend a great deal of time analyzing the results and employee comments, which helps us remain on track and ensures that we are not unaware of any concerns that might emerge over time.”
“Becoming a Top Workplace isn’t something organizations can buy,” Claffey said. “It’s an achievement organizations have worked for and a distinction that gives them a competitive advantage. It’s a big deal.”
